Binaural beats to coax a drowsy brain state, then affirmations or visualization inside it.
You put on headphones playing binaural beats tuned to the theta range (4–7 Hz), lie back, and once pleasantly drowsy, run your affirmations or scene work. The audio is scaffolding: a repeatable way to reach the receptive, half-dreaming state the sleep techniques all depend on. Binaural beats need stereo headphones to exist at all, since the effect comes from a slightly different tone in each ear, and the perceived pulse is what people describe as the settling sensation. A session runs twenty or thirty minutes with the mental work in the back half, once the fidgeting has stopped. The reason people like it over unaided relaxation is repeatability: the same track tends to produce a similar state, which turns a mood into a routine.
Brainwave-entrainment audio from the biofeedback era, adopted wholesale by manifestation practice.
Brainwave entrainment has been studied and the honest summary is modest: there is some evidence for effects on relaxation, anxiety and attention, the studies are small and inconsistent, and the popular model, that a 6 Hz beat tunes your brain to 6 Hz and unlocks the subconscious, outruns what has been shown. Whether the benefit is the entrainment or simply twenty quiet minutes with headphones on is not settled. It is low-risk for most people; the standard exception is that anyone with epilepsy should be cautious with rhythmic audio and visual stimulation and take medical advice rather than internet advice.
Daya’s guided meditations cover the settle-then-work shape this technique uses, without the entrainment claim attached. If you already have a theta track you like, the natural pairing is to run your Daya affirmations or the day’s audio scene in the drowsy back half of the session rather than composing something in the moment.
Most techniques on this page ask you to hold a vivid scene of your future in your mind. Daya does the holding for you: a new guided audio journey every day, written around the life you are actually building, in scenes specific enough to feel like memory.
