Void State

Widespread Advanced 45–90 min, attempts over weeks

Body asleep, mind awake, senses dark. Then state the wish as already true.

What it is

The community’s name for a deep threshold state: total bodily stillness and sensory blackout with awareness intact. Practitioners work toward it by lying motionless while staying mentally awake, and once "in the void," silently affirm the desire as done, the claim being that suggestions land with unusual force there. Attempts are long and mostly uneventful; the standard instruction is to lie on your back without moving past the point where your body starts filing complaints, and to expect itches, jerks and the strong conviction that this is not working. Reports of reaching it describe the drop-off of sensation as abrupt rather than gradual. Most people who practise this do so for weeks before anything they would call a success, and many never get there.

What people use it for

How to do it

  1. Lie on your back and stay perfectly still, past the urge to move.
  2. Let the body fall asleep while attention stays quietly awake.
  3. When sensation and imagery drop away, state the wish as already true.
  4. Let yourself fall asleep afterwards; journal in the morning.

Where it comes from

Named and popularised in shifting and Law of Assumption communities around 2020–2022.

Worth knowing

The description matches things sleep science already has names for (the transition through sleep onset, and sleep paralysis with its characteristic awareness of a still body), and those are real. The community claim that the void is a blank state where reality can be edited is not, and is the part to hold loosely. The practical caution is significant: the technique deliberately courts sleep paralysis, which is harmless physiologically but can be genuinely frightening, sometimes with hallucinations. If you have a sleep disorder, narcolepsy, or a history of distressing paralysis episodes, this is one to skip; if an attempt frightens you, stopping is a reasonable response.

The Daya angle

Daya has no part in reaching this state and no view on whether it exists. Where it can help is the ordinary preparation: a settled body works better than a wired one, and the guided meditations are a reasonable wind-down before an attempt. Whatever you did or did not experience is worth a line in the evening journal while it is still clear.

Hear it instead of imagining it

Most techniques on this page ask you to hold a vivid scene of your future in your mind. Daya does the holding for you: a new guided audio journey every day, written around the life you are actually building, in scenes specific enough to feel like memory.
