Mainstream Beginner 10–20 min, once a month
Each new moon: write the month’s desires, speak them, keep them visible.
The planting half of the lunar cycle: on the night of the new moon, the dark sky read as a blank page, you write a short list of what you intend to grow in the coming month, speak it aloud, and keep the list somewhere it stays in view until the cycle closes. Custom puts the writing within a day either side of the exact new moon, and most people check a calendar rather than the sky, since a new moon is by definition not visible. The list is short, three or four items, and phrased as intentions rather than wishes. What makes the practice stick is the pairing with the full moon two weeks later, which turns it into a review cycle with a natural closing date rather than a ritual you do once and forget.
Modern Western moon-work, drawing on much older lunar agricultural and ritual calendars.
The lunar-timing claim has been examined more than you might expect, mostly around sleep, mood and behaviour, and the results are largely null once the studies are big enough: there is no established effect of moon phase on human affairs. What the practice supplies is a calendar: a recurring, non-arbitrary date to set intentions and a second one to review them, which is genuinely useful and would work just as well on the 1st and the 15th. Most people find the moon a more memorable schedule than a date, which is a fair reason to keep it.
A monthly list and a daily practice sit at different scales, and Daya is the daily one. The new-moon intentions are a good source for what you type in each morning for the fortnight that follows. Manifestation boards are the visible-list half if you would rather keep it on a screen you pass than on paper. The app does not track moon phases.
Most techniques on this page ask you to hold a vivid scene of your future in your mind. Daya does the holding for you: a new guided audio journey every day, written around the life you are actually building, in scenes specific enough to feel like memory.
